Thank you Kurisu for sharing your story. It took me many years after growing up a latina, catholic woman to realize that "self-sacrifice" is not required for others to be happy. I had a double realization that I cannot "make" others happy and as I learned in A Course in Miracles " I need do nothing".
I still find that other women in my family cannot break themselves of this "martrydom" because it is just "the way" they were brought up, I realize I cannot do any more for the depression as I can for their happiness.
